Are You a Web Developer if You Don’t Know How to Code?

[ad_1]

I’m trying to get a better understanding of the web development world. I’ve spent a lot of time with Wix, and recently moved to WordPress.org in order to grow my skills and have more flexibility.

I was surprised to find that even when moving to WordPress, my need to code is basically non existent. There’s tons of beautiful templates and easy to use blocks and things of that nature.

It’s definitely more complex, because there’s a lot more I have to do myself on the backend and it doesn’t just do everything for you.

I guess what has me confused is, how many web developers are actually building websites with code?

Since most personal sites and small businesses are perfectly well off with one of these templates, I don’t really understand where the coding comes into play.

I know that for a fully customized site and building completely from scratch, coding is essential. I guess I’m just confused what the norm is and where that line is.
