Client is updating there word press website. A ‘web designer’ has been working with client to update the site, but stated that a graphic designer would be needed to update elements of the site: background image and logos. As a graphic designer I was asked to help. I was sent the login info for the site, I have used Wix and I thought updating these elements would be simple.
1. When I go to pages>’front page’>Edit Page, it shows ‘swift page builder’, I can press ‘show default editor’ but neither of these options shows me an editor interface I am familiar with, I want to view the site while I edit it? I can do this when I go to create my own site but not when editing this one which leads me to my next question…
2. I am being prompted to install plugins which lead me to research .com vs .org, for me to edit this site do I have to have pay for word press business on .com? Are these plugins I am being asked to install the reason I can’t use the editing mode I am familiar with?
3. With Plugins If the other person is working on this site has already installed the plugins and activated them, are they tied to the site or, are they client side, do we both need them installed?
4. The log-in details I was provided opened in .com, am I safe to assume the site was created in .com? Can you edit sites in .com / that weren’t created using .com?
5. Separately I am being asked to create a website from scratch. Now that I have looked into .com vs .org I am confused, does each hosting site have there own [e](https://wordpress.org)ditor or are the editor interfaces plugins, like how would I edit a wordpress site using the .org avenue? all the youtube videos show how you start with hosting and go straight into setting up a site. I guess I’m confused if website hosts and site editors are tied together?
6. As a graphic designer using adobe what is the best drag and drop editor that does not need code?
If I cant figure it out I will just provide the image and ask the other person editing the site to add it and hopefully it works out, I’m honestly just trying to do it my self first because I don’t want to seem incompetent.
