Best malware scanning service?

I host and maintain websites for my clients on Flywheel. Currently I’m hosting 50 sites with plans for expansion.

I’ve been using the ManageWP malware scanning service, but this week a client reported his site was acting up despite no alert from the service. I ran Sucuri site check, which turned up clean as well (I didn’t realize at the time that ManageWP also uses Sucuri site check). I submitted a ticket to flywheel, and they in fact found malware.

They recommended wordfencepremium for malware detection, but that is not cost effective for me at the prices I currently charge, and there’s no volume plan available. I don’t know if the free version would suffice.

I’m looking for recommendations to replace ManageWP. I want to be the first to know if a client site is compromised. Thanks!

  1. Securi may only be scanning front facing files. Something like the Wordfence plugin can provide more detailed scanning of all files as well as provide some excellent firewall and security. It’s probably one of the better plugins for security. I would give it a try.
