I’m on the hunt for a BuddyPress plugin that allows groups to maintain their own event calendar. I know Events Manager lets you attach events to groups, but it forces users to create events from their profile. I want users to be able to create events from the groups page. Ideally, the group admin has control over who can create events in their group.

Does anyone know of any currently maintained plugins that do that \^ ? I was able to clean up the code some, but this is beyond my abilities.

Have you looked into BuddyBoss (and their Events add-on)? It’s a modern, maintained fork of BuddyPress (which died a decade ago IMHO)
