Broke my site, how do I recover it?

[ad_1]

So, I was trying to change my site URL from domaincom.wpstaging.com to just domain.com, and I believe I mixed up some instructions. In general settings, the options to change it were greyed, so I went to look for the wp-config file.

Well, I couldn't access cPanel under any of the normal urls (I am setting up a new website as opposed to managing one that's already running, so I've always had the cpanel already set up in the past), but I could access phpmyadmin. I found the homepage and site url lines in wp-options and rather than change them, I just deleted them, thinking that it would just return to using my domain as the webpage.

Unfortunately, it instead killed the entire website, and I lost access to the admin dashboard entirely, as well. What are my options to remedy?

EDIT: I just solved this with a shot in the dark. For progeny, in case this is googled 7 years in the future, if you have jetpack backups set up, you can directly access them by going to https://wordpress.com/backup/yourdomain.com, even if you can't otherwise log in to your admin dashboard. You can restore your site from there.

  1. Can you not just add the homepage and site url records/entries back into the database again, with the correct URLs?
