cannot access site and “Recovery Mode not initialized”

i got a domain still hosted by gator that i put up in 2015, neglected the site for years and now trying to get access again. i was getting emails about the technical issue with jetpack but i wasn’t even looking at those emails anymore. so now i can’t even access my wordpress admin, it gives me black white screen with “Recovery Mode not initialized”. what to do if anything?

  1. Best path, get to the error logs on your hosting environment. This varies based on who you use, best to contact them and ask them.

One you get access to the logs you can see what is going wrong. Neglecting the site for years can be several things, but two most common:

A plugin that had a exploit in it, that never got updated, and once the exploit became public knowledge, a bot hit the site and found it

The environment got updated to a newer version of PHP that some plugin/theme needed updates to work with, that are now failing.

  2. Can you get ftp access ? If so yoj could turn debug mode on and find out more info
