[Career advice] Should I stay in a company that codes WordPress functional in a theme?

[ad_1]

Hello everyone.

Recently I joined the web studio (a bit more than 10 employees) that does WP sites. And there’s a thing: they seem to particularly dislike any plugins except the ACF and code all the functionality right in the theme files.

Is this a valid approach or should I run away from this studio as fast as I could if I value good practices? I’ve only done frontend related job for them so far. Something tells me this isn’t right…

Sorry for a noob post, just want to know your opinion guys.

  1. What’s wrong with that approach?

If you have a specific requirement it makes sense to write the code for it rather than using a plugin that could add a dozen more features and dependencies.
