I was recently prompted to relogin to my admin account. I had set up email 2FA authentication, and upon login I am presented with a “Check your email to confirm the log in” page.
Do you know for sure your website is able to send emails? Did you test the plugin to be sure everything was working before enabling it?
If you’re absolutely sure that your website is able to send emails, then this is an issue with the 2FA plugin you’re using. You’ll need to post in the plugin’s own support forum for its author to help you. (Note that WordPress itself doesn’t have any 2FA feature, so you must be using a plugin for this.)
On the other hand, if you’ve never received an email from your site before, then it’s likely your website’s server isn’t configured to send emails, and that’s the problem you need to resolve. You may seek help from your hosting provider, or install and configure an SMTP plugin to use an external mailer: https://projectdmc.org/plugins/search/smtp/
Good luck!
Thanks, George – looks like it was an issue with the plugin! Appreciate your help.
