Hi I just need some advice/help.
So my client set up her WordPress with a freelancer and he bought the domain, email, etc through his login but via WordPress and made himself the administrator. Due to his not completing the work they parted ways however he hasn’t transferred ownership to her. I have been helping with one or two things and tried to login as usual but couldn’t. So the email has expired so I can’t login anymore and I’m getting the error message ‘user does not exist’. She reached out to him and asked and he confirmed the domain is still active it’s just the email. He told her to go ahead and login and renew it but there is no way to do that as the email no longer works and he is the admin. Is there another way around this or is it what I’m thinking which is that he has to go in and renew the email and then transfer ownership? This might sound very simple but he is a little difficult so would prefer a work around. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.I really appreciate it.

That’s just not a situation that can continue for starters. Your client needs to take back complete ownership of everything, or just start again.
If you have database access you can add a user or change a password easily there, but this whole situation is a continual nightmare of trouble.
What’s the value of the domain and website to your client? They need to either offer the original dev that to release everything, or cut their losses and start from scratch, new domain and all.
If he is the owner of the domain, then you have to work with him. There is no work around.
Next time, work with somebody who will transfer the ownership properly.
