Client not paying for work done

[ad_1]

I did work on a WordPress site for someone but they’re not paying for me it, blocked my number etc, it’s a long story but the guy is a literal psychopath. Im not in his country anymore.

My question is, how can i disrupt his site, take it down, until his pays? I only have access to wp-admin. So i guess the best i could do is backup and wipe his site, remove the user accounts, and leave a message saying pay ur debts mate.

  1. I would Download a backup asap, and then delete the site and remove everything from the trash bin but I’m not sure of the legal consequences etc but that’s just me

  2. Back-up everything.
Send the ‘client’ a dated letter stating that unless payment is made by < specific date and time> you will recall all files/ code/ text etc that you have created for this project.
If, by the date you have not received payment, remove only those assets you’ve not been paid for.
Do not take the site offline, just remove anything that is unpaid for.
If you need to remove plugins etc and the site falls over, that’s their problem.

Presume the project is dead and you’re not going to get paid and move on.
Next time, get a written statement of work, signed contract and deposit.

  3. do you have a contract where you stated that the site is YOURS until they pay? if not, and you delete the site, they can sue you.

always contract, never put anything on their server until they pay.

  4. If you delivered the fully finished project without getting paid, I’m sorry to say but it’s your mistake.

The best you can do now is to learn from your mistake and move on.
