Commenting on other peoples blogs

I have a WordPress blog and I enjoy leaving comments on other people’s blogs. I absolutely love it if I get any blog comments at all, I’m very generous. I feel it’s important to return the favor and comment on other peoples blogs. The issue is a couple of weeks ago I made a comment on a blog where we were analyzing a book. And I mentioned that a certain passage in the written text of the book was omitted in the audiobook. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards, I realize that I had made a mistake and the passage was there. I went back to the blog to try and correct edit my post, but the owner of the blog didn’t publish it. So now I’m left wondering if he’s going to publish it. I don’t know if he just abandoned his blog because there’s been no comments for a while. I don’t know if he decided not to publish. I don’t see how I could ask him to delete the comment when it hasn’t been published.

So today I found another blog that I’m interested in making a comment on but I realize now that I can’t go back and delete or edit the comment I don’t have that right anymore and I don’t know when that person will ever publish the comment so now I don’t want to comment on other peoples blogs anymore unless it’s something very likely to be correct but uninspiring such as “great blog keep up the good work”. I would consider a comment like great blog keep up the good work as probably a waste of time. I was hoping that we could engage in serious literary discussions. I can definitely still “like” blogs, but I believe this comment policy is really discouraging. Word Press could increase comments if we people have the ability to edit their comment or delete it if they find that they had commented and mistake or by mistake.

So basically, I just took a deep breath and said I’m not ready to make any sort of comment that can’t be deleted or edited at this point. This just removes a whole lot of the fun of having a blog and leaving comments and other peoples blogs and hoping that they will reply and perhaps you could get an interesting discourse going.
