We have a SquareSpace site that we are moving to WordPress. We own our domain through [name.com]). How do I go about connecting this domain which is currently connected to our SquareSpace site to our new WordPress site? How long will this process take?

As long as you have the nameservers for your new WordPress host the process is pretty straightforward:

They say it will take roughly 48 hours for the changes to propagate, but for most users the domain will resolve on the new location within hours.
In case no nameservers are given, you will need to use Name.com’s default nameservers and update the DNS zone there as instructed by your new host.
Your new WP host will have instructions on how to do that. Essentially you will just be updating 1 or 2 records in your DNS to point to the new server.
I’d highly recommend you use Cloudflare, which allows for instant DNS changes, as well as a ton of other features like firewall, CDN, DDoS protection.
