Developing website on subdomain and how to replace original site

[ad_1]

Hello all. Looking to find some good, up to date tutorials/advice to go through this process.

I will be replacing an old site (made with Muse) with a WordPress site. I have installed WordPress on the hosting (Krystal) and created the Subdomain.

What i'd like to know is the right process to move back (migrate?) when i am ready to switch from the Subdomain back to the original domain. A lot of the tutorials i look at relate to when you are cloning the site, i am starting afresh.

Should i be worried about losing SEO from the original site and do i need to do anything in the way of using plugins etc.

Apologies if i'm not explaining this well, although i have made basic wordpress sites before i am struggling to find the language for all this. I'll come to things like 'point the domain back to'… and i don't know what it means.

Side note: i have tried using localwp with a previous site but for whatever reason the live link function didn't work properly for us in the office.
