I’ve been doing WordPress dev for over a decade and thought it was enough. Then SPAs came out and now you have SSR with client side hydration (those super fast sites with cool stuff like dark mode, almost no load time between pages). I didn’t know how to do that. Even though I knew HTML, CSS, vanilla JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL/MariaDB and Linux (Debian and RHEL downstream). But without knowing a frontend framework like React and a full stack framework like Next, and Docker for DevOps, I felt like an imposter. So I taught myself these. But there’s so much more to learn to be worthy of being called a developer—ReactNative, Electron.js, WebAssembly, etc. Do you feel like an imposter at times? All the time? Do you wish you had more skills?
