Also with regards to the robots.txt file I can’t see that in the root directory of website. I figured out its a virtual file.
domainname.com.au/robots.txt
I see it already puts those 2 lines of code in automatically.
Is that all I need to do ?
Glad to help:
- “Does your plugin work with Siteground and Siteground Optimiser plugin?”
Not when page caching is enabled. Any sort of page caching prevents dynamic plugins like Blackhole from working properly. Here is a post with more specific details.
2. “I see you don’t support cache with your plugin or does it cause issues?”
Same answer as #1 above.
3. “Could you possibly confirm whether this might be OK to work?”
Blackhole offers general protection against bad bots. It is not specifically aimed at any checkout or shopping cart, etc. So it probably will help, by blocking any bot that disobeys your site’s robots rules and falls into the hidden trap. It blocks bad bots in general.
4. “ALSO could you confirm that your plugin could be used and work well for sites that have been compromised and cleaned up?”
No, the status of the site (e.g., compromised, not compromised, etc.) is not a qualifier for this plugin. It simply blocks bad bots from visiting your site.
5. “I see it already puts those 2 lines of code in automatically. Is that all I need to do ?”
Just make sure to read the documentation (you can find complete information under the Help tab on the plugin settings screen), there are important options to be aware of, how they work, etc. All explained in the Help tab/docs.
I hope this helps, let me know if I can provide any further information.
