Domain change locations?

[ad_1]

About a year ago I started a website and installed WordPress with Elementor and a Hello child theme setup, then I stopped before adding content; life got in the way. Six months later, I decided to buy a new domain, disregard the old domain, and repurpose the hosting account. Since I only had the basics setup, I just started running from there updating wordpress and the plugins to the latest and changing my domain name everywhere I could find, including contacting the hosting company and asking for help/confirmation was all good. However, I am trying out a new-to-me hosting company and I’m not in love with them, so I’m turning to you to help.

Where within the hosted files should I check that the domain is the correct one?

FWIW, this paranoia has kicked off because Google Search Console is giving me an undetailed error that they found a security issue of “Deceptive pages” despite my site currently being 1-page, plus a Contact page, which Google Search does display without problems. The domain change is the most unusual thing for me, so I want to confirm it’s good before moving onto other troubleshooting. Thanks!

  1. Install a plugin called Better Search Replace – use it to perform the domain change.

If you didn’t touch your site for 6 months, and you had Elementor installed, it is possible that your site has been hacked, hence to Google warning.
