so I have a blog on a Premium plan which is expensive enough but does not allow any plugins. What are my emailing options? At the moment I can only send a very generic Welcome email to new subscribers and an even more generic email promt of new posts. I would like to be able to do more, like send mass emails and send a proper Welcome email.

I know this isn’t what you are asking, but you may want to look into getting off of WordPress.com and setting up WordPress.org on an actual web host. The proprietary version of WordPress offered by WordPress.com will limit you in many ways in the long run, and good hosting can be had for much cheaper
