Error Establishing a Database Connection – we get this regularly when trying to edit the WP site.

[ad_1]

I have two WordPress sites on the same hosting account. One site is live, the other still in development.

When making changes, or trying to, we regularly get the error message, “Error Establishing a Database Connection”. It does not seem to matter what we are doing, what we are editing, it can come at any time. We can sometimes edit fine for a day or two, then the error happens, changes are lost and we are unable to access anything in WP – pages, widgets, Smart Slider, etc.

My web host said at one point their server was doing “unplanned maintenance” and that was the issue. The problem persists.

These sites were migrated onto the current host. I’ve done this many times before without issue, but wondering if that somehow caused the problem.

If there is ANYONE here that can advise, help, take a look – I am at my wits end. Seems there has to be a solution – somewhere/somehow.

[camdensnowbowl.com]) is the live site – and the one currently updated every day.

Thanks for reading. Look forward to your replies.

  1. In your wp-config.php file is the DB host set to localhost or is there a server address listed in there?

If it localhost then the issue is likely resource usage in your own account. But if it’s something else then more likely they are serving databases from a separate server that is having issues of its own, or there is networking issues between your server and that one.

Either way, my conclusion is that the hosting is the problem. Two months of back and fourth is not how you should be spending your time.
