Hi, I’m a new Web designer.
I have my first Web design consultation for a social club in my local area. They do events such as functions, weddings, funerals etc.
My question is, is it okay to be upfront after the consultation to confirm if I can fulfil their requirements or not? I’m just worried that I might have bitten off more than I can chew.
I don’t want to appear to be wasting anyone’s time too.
I am confident I can help them but of course without knowing their requirements in full only then I can get the full picture.
I’ve offered this for free to build experience.

Hi,
I would advise you not to turn it down but outsource help or get someone seasoned to do the website for you. As a result everytime you outsource you gain more experience.
My first rule is to never turn down a job, if it is beyond my expertise I simply tell the client that it will cost them a bit more since it is complex and then get someone help. This will also allow me to gain more experience. So you can try to find out the scope and if its beyond you just tell them you might have to rope in someone else to assist and that might come at a fee.
