For BlueHost, Do I Have to Purchase SSL and SiteLock Security if the Hosting Company I Purchase My Domain From Already Does that?

I’m looking to build a website using WordPress . org through a hosting site like BlueHost. I noticed while checking out that there were optional add ons. I currently use Google Domain for my domain and it comes with SSL and privacy. Do I need to purchase again through BlueHost? Or am I good to go on that aspect.

ALSO, since Google Domain is going away, what domain site should I migrate my domain to? How do you even migrate it?

  1. I’d recommend you don’t use BlueHost. Do a search for them in r/webhosting – they have a terrible track record and reputation.

Almost all hosts these days supply SSL certificates for free, using Let’s Encrypt. If your host doesn’t, move hosts.

To move a domain name, log into your current registrar and get the Domain Key/EPP code. Go to your new registrar (e.g. Cloudflare or Porkbun), find the Transfer Domain menu, enter your domain name and EPP code and follow the prompts.
