Hey guys,
I’m setting up a site for myself and I’m using a Formidable contact form.
I’m seeing that it’s recommended to use a “SMPT”. Can anyone explain what it is and why it’s necessary? Maybe a service you recommend?
I’ve researched online and can’t seem to get an answer that makes sense to me. I am in no way a pro at developing/WP.

Some host block outbound mail to control spam and using a third party smtp mailer bypasses this block as it uses 3rd party api’s to send the messages.
use one of there recommend ones (most have free tiers) –
Make sure you have clients DNS access as you will need to add records to the domain to verify
wp smtp has good docs on there site when you pick your chosen mailer
