https://wordpress.org/news/2024/10/wp-engine-promotions/
Given the egregious legal attacks by WP Engine against WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg, a number of their customers have been looking for alternative hosting, and in return a number of hosts have created specials and promotions for WP Engine customers looking to migrate to a host that has great relations with WordPress.org. Here they are, in alphabetical order.
We’ll update this post if any new offers come online, get in touch and we’ll link it.
Bluehost…
Pressable..
Automattic…
Edit: Please note that I am sharing this because I think it is laughable and not because I think any of these are good deals!
my vote is to stick with wp engine, they are a great hosting option

Not a very popular offer on slack apparently either
For context—3 of 4 are automattic owned and Bluehost is a deeply integrated partner.
Matt is just giving the illusion people are against WPE. 😉
So basically putting money back into Matt’s hand. What an ass, and to use it to self-promote his business on WPorg
I expected Matt to promote his own businesses.
But BLUEHOST? Are you fucking serious? The two most consistent pieces of advice I give to people who both are and are not my clients:
* Don’t use anything GoDaddy.
* Don’t use anything EIG/Bluehost.
The thought that Matt is trying to push people towards what is infamous for being one of the worst hosting providers is mindblowing to me.
Matt is advocating to hurt people’s livelihoods in his pettiness.
Welp, I’ve finally done it. I’ve now disabled the News & Events widget through a MU plugin on all company-maintained websites as the news it receives is nothing more than a Matt-driven propaganda machine (to be fair, it was largely junk anyway and useless to most clients, but we at least gave them the choice as to whether they wanted to see that stuff).
I guess 0 is “a number”.
One of my hosts, WP Engine, has great relations with [WordPress.org](http://WordPress.org) – it’s called “no relationship whatsoever.”
