Frontity + WordPress: Is this the best way to create a website with blogging and custom app capabilities?

[ad_1]

I’m looking to create a website that has both article / blogging capabilities and the ability to share simple web applications within the website (e.g., a game coded directly in the website).

The approach I was thinking of taking here was to use WordPress as a Headless CMS and utilize Frontity & React to actually create the website. From what I’ve read this seems like a good path forward, would allow me to fully customize the website, and would allow others to easily create / write articles on the website. However, my main concern is part of the value of WordPress is all of its plugins (meaning I’d likely have to create a lot of functionalities from scratch), which is fine, but just generates a bit more work.

Has anyone had any experience with this, or would recommend a different approach here? For context, I have some coding experience, but don’t feel like an expert by any means.

  1. [Wordpress bought the team behind frontity]) and put them on internal projects.

Reading between the lines , wordpress may have been threatened by the polished decoupling solution.

There are tonnes of react/vue/whatever headless wordpress strategies, but frontity is no longer actively developed

  2. Yup, when you go headless you lose all of the templating systems… so if you want a comment section, you have to spin your own and connect it to the API. It can get pretty complex with replies and things. If you’re not used to the framework it can be really frustrating to figure both things out at the same time. I’ve been there.

Are you already proficient in React?

Have you looked at things like Astro.build and Remix.run?
