Guttemberg, you’re going to kill me

“Hey, we’re wordpress, a CMS for bloggers.

We use to have this old school perfectly working text editor, but hey, it’s 2022, and we should evolve, right ?

Here, look at this fantaaaaaastic new text editor we just implement by default. Isn’t he lovely ?

Oh yeah boy. You can do a LOT of new fonction. Like, not a single one you actually need, but hey, who knows ? Might need it in a billion year. Anyway, it’s already here !

Aaaaand, you know. About the old text editing stuff. We suppress all the cools shortcuts. Cause WHO IN THE HELL needs to EDIT TEXT on WORDPRESS right ?”

  1. Have to say I completely agree. Hopefully the classic editor plugin will never be phased out.

  2. The first thing I do in any wp site is disable that crap, it the worst text editor ever created

  3. Eh, I’m used to Gutenberg at this point. There are a few things I still find frustrating (copying multiple blocks of text for example). But overall I actually find it pretty quick and intuitive to use at this point. I almost never use the classic block/plugin.

I’m just one person. But that’s my take.

And change never makes anyone happy initially. I’m sure we can dig back and find how opinionated everyone was whenever the first rich-text editor was introduced. Hell, there were probably people angry about color TVs back in the day. To each their own.
