Hi everyone,
I’m facing a persistent issue with a WooCommerce eCommerce website I built using a template purchased from ThemeForest. The site has been running fine for over three years, but for the past 3-4 months, it has been experiencing frequent downtime due to high resource consumption. Here’s a rundown of the problem:
* **Initial Setup**: The site was originally hosted on shared hosting but started experiencing frequent downtimes due to resource limits.
* **Current Setup**: We moved to a VPS (Contabo) hoping to resolve the issue, but the problem persists. The site continues to stop working multiple times a day.
* **Possible Cause**: I suspect bot traffic might be overwhelming the site.
* **Subdomain Test**: When we put the website on a subdomain, it doesn’t experience these issues, which makes me think the main domain is the target (perhaps because it’s well-indexed and has good SEO).
* **Actions Taken**:
* Deleted and re-uploaded all website files – no change.
* Enabled Cloudflare’s “Under Attack” mode – no improvement.
* Currently limiting the number of requests per 10 seconds to see if it helps.
This website is critical for my friend (I’m helping for free because I recommended the one who made the website initially 3 years ago), and his business heavily relies on it. I’m feeling a lot of pressure to get this resolved.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Any suggestions on what else I can try? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

What hosting? How much traffic is it getting? Are there users logged into the backend processing orders?
