Help with client project: one or two websites?

[ad_1]

Hey all,

I’ve got a client who runs a holding company, and they’re wanting to make content creation and storytelling a large part of their brand. They’re employee-owned and have a strong focus on community among the businesses they own – they create mini-documentaries for the companies they run and interview their employees on a recurring podcast.

The client approached me wanting to create a “media hub” of sorts. They’re wanting to have a website for all these mini-docs, podcasts, and potentially articles to live. My question to them was: should this be its own site, or should we redesign the main site to put a stronger focus on this media aspect of the business?

They say both sites would generally be for the same audience, but they want the media aspect to feel very cinematic, like you’re walking into a theater. I think this is doable while combining the sites into one, but perhaps it would be better to separate their company website (with About info, Team info, more details about what they do) from this media side of their brand.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Any opinions are welcome! Let me know if some more info is needed to make an informed opinion.

Thank you!

  1. I’d say go for a subdomain and keep this seperate from the main site, this will allow you much more control over the look and feel of this new media side of the website.
