hi! i almost a beginner and i need to edit the "wp-config.php" file because the WP rocket plugins ask me to do!
but i didn't access the host folder and stuff (the public_html i mean) pls guide me how t do this!♥
EDIT : now i have access to the cPANEL and i can see the file! tnx you all! you guys make me learn something like what FTP is.♥♥♥
You should install an SFTP (FTP) client to get access to your server files. Then you BACKUP the original file by copying and renaming it and downloading it. Then edit the file as needed.
You can’t, and for good reasons, shouldn’t. Get a FTP/SFTP program and do it instead.
You should quit listening to noobs and fix your file permissions. If Rocket can’t write files how will it write to cache and who set up your server because they suck at it. You suck at following instructions because there’s a link right there telling what to do. My instructions would feature reading the instructions.
Warning : You are trying to destroy your WordPress.
You can try some file manager plugin, then download wp-config.php, modify from your computer using a text editor application & upload to root folder again.
But never try to edit wp-config.php without server access / FTP access because if there is any error, you will lost access to WP & your front end will be display error page.
The best method is using Filezilla FTP client. Else server file manager. At least a PHP file manager outside WordPress.
Be careful with one thing though: it is something many beginners overlook. Be sure to create a child theme of your your active theme to do any edit to the CSS or the functions.php file otherwise at the first theme update all edits will be overwritten!
Edit: not main theme, Active theme.
You can do it – just install the File Manager plugin. Edit file and after delete plugin for security reason.s
