How can I migrate a WordPress installation using MariaDB 10 to a MySQL 8 server?

[ad_1]

Hey, I am having a compatibility issue between my local/test server setup vs the target server.

My working environment uses MariaDB 10 and the target server of my client uses MySQL 8. I always migrate the websites I make in WordPress with Duplicator but this time it throws compatibility issues for obvious reasons.

I am a web designer, I don’t have advanced knowledge in server administrator and I don’t have access to the WHM of the target server and my client says that there is no way to change MySQL 8 to MariaDB.

What can I do? Is there any way to migrate the database to the new server with MySQL 8? Or is it better to do a WordPress installation from scratch on the target server and then migrate the data and settings manually?

And beyond that: Is it convenient to use MySQL 8 since MariaDB is almost the standard and is the option chosen by most hosting providers?

Thank you in advance!
