How do some websites do not show a warning message even without a valid ssl?

[ad_1]

Hi,
I work on WordPress for fun and I made this website sometime ago which doesn’t have any confidential information. But SSL is pretty expensive from where I am for a single site, I’ve been thinking are there any alternatives?
I remember seeing some websites, even though they’re not secured, they never showed a warning sign about private connection. On the other hand, for my website even if I fail to renew ssl for a few days, the message pops up. Any turnarounds for this?
Cheers!

  1. SSL is free everywhere AFAIK. Even GoDaddy, the last hold out, now offer them for free.

Without an SSL cert, users will see a warning and Google will penalise you site in its rankings.

    Who’s your host?

  2. You can get free ssl certs from letsencrypt.org and most hosting providers provide one for free with your plan.
