How hard is it to get first client as a wordpress freelancer in 2024?

I’ve been learning React and decided to learn wordpress to freelance. I already have an upwork account with zero reviews. How hard is it gonna be to find my first client?
If you don’t know anyone personally, it’s extremely difficult. Freelancing is all about personal connections. You’re kinda stuck with cold calling, which has a terrible conversion rate.
Try asking in r/freelance or r/smallbusiness
Speaking for myself, all my clients are through word of mouth or my old connections from old workplace. I would suck at cold calling
Agree with the other comments. I started last April and because of word of mouth I got 12 projects running now. I’m an accountmanager too, so maybe that helped, bigger network and all. Drink coffee with anyone, you never know what happens!
And just start conversations with everyone you meet. Not just about work, but anything really. It really helps, so people get to know you. If you just mention once you build websites, they will think of you when they need. If the conversation was fun of course haha.

My very first website, i did it for free for my church even though they paid for the hosting. since then , I’ve got lot of referals through that
