Would you consider this janky?

I have a client who wants a standard 5-page site with the addition of a shop page, where they want to sell a few products. I usually like to use React SPA with WordPress serving as headless. However, I have enough experience in trying to wrangle the WooCommerce rest API to know that I don’t want to do that.

So, I was thinking of setting up the SPA as normal, with a link to the shop in the navbar, which will redirect to the standard WooCommerce shop page in the WordPress directory. Obviously, this will destroy any sense of a SPA but just wanted to know if anyone has done this, and how it ended up being from a UX standpoint? TIA

  1. In your case I’d completely split off the shop from the other site. You should also consider that an online Shop, doesn’t matter if small or big, comes with way more regulatory stuff, moving parts, and security considerations which makes it a lot more complicated than a simple website.

  2. Why not explore Astro web framework? Astro swat shop is running with WooCommerce, but WooCommerce seems to be less responsive as well.
