How much work is it to update plugins and themes? Also a memory question

[ad_1]

I’m a full-stack software engineer and have worked with about 20 WordPress websites setting them up, running them, maintaining etc.. I can troubleshoot issues if needed, but I’d need to spend some time if I got into majority editing a theme or plugin.

I have a client with an outdated WordPress site. It needs to be updated to the newest version of WP and update the plugins.

I understand the process to be to update everything, then go through all the flows to make sure the store works fine. I’m sure there are going to be a few bugs that pop up, but besides that, is there anything huge I should expect? I want to make sure I don’t tell this client I’ll help them and then get stuck with this project for the next month.

Also, when checking out his site, I came across a lot of “memory” problems where the website would crash because it said it needed more memory. Is that an easy fix?
