How quickly do you update plugins?

[ad_1]

If some plugins get monthly updates like bug fixes, do you rush to test and update it or do you wait a couple of weeks? Or months?

I manage a Woocommerce/WPML store and it has 45 plugins (10 of it is WPML-related) so what remains is about 20-30. All of these are woocommerce related. Out of those maybe half have an update every month or so.

So each month there‘s around 10 – 15 updates.
I often wait around two weeks before bothering to test them on staging site and update on production (unless it‘s a security update). Mostly because it‘s so tidious.

I‘ve also read that old version may slow down a site, but it‘s probably a more nuanced issue.

  1. I run a small side hosting business. I run updates across my clients site 1-2 per week via ManageWP. Takes about 1 minute to do 80 sites.
