Hi Agency-Owners and Freelancers,
I am wondering how other freelancers handle the billing of cookie-consent-management-tools. Do you always include it in a one-time fee for the customers or do you even charge them for such a tool?
For now, I always look at the individual needs of my customers and often choose a free-plan. But now I have a bigger project where a paid version is a must, so I am wondering how others handle it.
Thanks a lot! 🙂

No charge besides the time it takes to implement. It also depends on how large the company is, some just have simple popup. However with larger companies who actually need to block all cookies so none drop the setup process can take a really long time (weeks). I’m done it both ways but I charge my hourly rate to set this up.
Your website is required to have cookie consent under GDPR and I am sure similar laws around the world.
Are you using a premium plugin for this? And asking how to recoup the costs?
There are some good free or freemium plug-ins out there.
I always have my clients purchase their own licenses for any paid plug-ins. What if you don’t renew? They are on the hook legally for that. Point them to the plugin website. Tell them to provide you with the api key. Simple.
u/Breklin76 – this… get the client to buy a licence… then they see costs, can choose their solution, and have ultimate responsibility for it. Charge to help set-up.
I also charge X for setup of plugins I recommend… X+ if I don’t know the plugin.
