Hi guys, I’ve had my art blog for a couple of months now (since February I think?) being a WordPress, I was hoping it would get indexed somehow, but it still doesn’t come up when I search for it.
I’m definilty finding that part a little bit confusing, I’m not sure if that’s a payed thing, I’ve looked at WordPress Help and the settings but I still don’t thing it’s working 😬
Any thoughts?

Hello, have you already registered your site through Google search console?
It will take time to get into some rankings. Use seo tools like ahrefs to track organic growth. It will show you when you start ranking.
By ranking I mean any placement all the way past 100. Once you do, focus on that content to help it get closer to page one.
It takes time..
What is your website? Have you checked in the Settings > Reading make sure the checkbox for “discourage search engine” is NOT checked
No, you don’t need to pay to index your site with Google, but indexing isn’t a feature built in to WordPress either.
Another poster mentioned submitting your site to GSC. You can install the [Google Site Kit plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-site-kit/) and get access to the search console and other tools directly through your WP admin page.
Google: site://yourdomain.com this will show every page indexed incase you are searching for a query that is displaying other results, if nothing shows then it means you arent indexed.
Create a sitemap and robots.txt file to make sure the pages you want indexed are, then upload that sitemap to your file manager and log into Google Search Console, it might want you to upload an html file or add a TXT dns record to prove you are the owner, then you can ask it to search for the sitemap you uploaded, a day or so later and you will be indexed, use GSC to monitor the indexing progress and they will alert you when pages drop off.
Another commentor mentioned but wp has a built in de-index in Settings-> Reading and its a simple tick box, make sure it is unticked as this being ticked basically adds a line of code to every page saying “Google and other search bots ignore this page, do not index it” which is awesome for building a dev site and keeping it hidden but a real pain if you forget to turn it off when you go live and should be a crucial step in the go live process.
Ping the sitemap and add your site to search console.
It can take a long time to get indexed.
You can add your site to Google Search Console and other webmaster tools through Bing and Yandex for the same purpose. This will give you some insight into how often your site is showing up in search results.
If you can use plugins there are some SEO tools available as others have mentioned.
1 Connect your site with google search console
2 Use Yoast Seo plugin in WordPress to create sitemap and set indexing settings
3 Make sure the robot.txt is allowing the web to index on search engines (by default indexing is on)
4 YouTube all the above steps 🙂
