I’ve started a business where we host events/mixers/etc. We want to be able to have our own website and sell tix as it will be cheaper overall then paying Eventbrite fees and transaction fees. I am BRAND new to website creation. Please explain to me like I’m 5 years old how to go about this?
We purchased a domain/email thru GoDaddy. I tried their ecommerce free trial but it seems limited and geared more towards either physical product sales or appointment bookings. The sales person said I should purchase the WordPress Ecommerce plan with WooCommerce features. I’ve seen some plugins from WordPress that would be ideal for us.
At this point all we really care to do is be able to sell tickets (limit quantity in total and also by type per buyer) and not pay exorbitant amount of transaction fees or website/h0st!ng fees.
Can anyone tell me where to start and what would be easiest for someone who doesn’t know anything about this?!
TLDR: what is the easiest cost effective way to create an event ticketing site for someone who doesn’t know anything about web design. :/

Best way is to use a page builder like elementor and go to the website themeforest and buy yourself a template that you like and set it up.
Setting up woo commerce would be a little advance for a beginner but you can follow tutorials on YouTube for that. You can do it yourself with elementor because its user friendly. So that should be the easiest route.
Well remember this too, if u have someone who is experienced in website development it will be much easier for you to maintain the website, because there will be down times for your website and its selling tickets. If you are focusing on targeting google ads or Facebook ads. You need to setup google analytics and a Facebook pixel in your site. So for that you can try to figure out on ur own or hand it over to someone with experience.
The easiest cost effective way to create an event ticketing site for someone who doesn’t know anything about web design is to hire a web developer to make that site for you.
A functional eCommerce ticket website built in WordPress is not a beginner project.
WordPress is definitely the platform of choice here, but it’s worth noting that you’ll need a developer to assist you—it’s not beginner-friendly. Look into plugins such as The Events Calendar or WP Amelia to streamline the process.
