I’m not sure I am asking this right, so I’ll explain what I want to learn.
I have found some beautiful themes for WordPress that have a lot of the functionality that I need for a site. But most of them do things that I do not want to do and I would like to block or replace those sections.
For example, one theme shows a rental property and has a booking form widget on the page. I would like to replace that booking form widget with my own widget because theirs sends an email as a booking request that a person would have to work with and I want to show a modal form and allow the viewer to book the rental immediately without someone else having to read an email and contact them.
How would you go about finding and replacing their widget/code in this situation?
I know this will be different for each theme/plugin and I am not asking for specific code. I want to learn the general methods for doing this so that I can do it on multiple themes and plugins.
I am just learning PHP and WordPress so I need answers for questions like…
* What do I look for?
* Where should I start looking?
* How would I replace their code with my own?
