plugin automatically disabled due to “wordfence.php” missing. Is this a bug?

[ad_1]

Dear all,
this morning I found my website with wordfence not working, due to
wordfence.php not found.
I hence tried to re-install the plugin via wordreference but the installed failed to the directory already existing.

I then tried to manually remove the plugin by following these instructions
https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/remove-or-reset/

I followed these steps
1. Plugin files, located in “wp-content/plugins/wordfence”.
2. Database tables, located in your database (they all start with the “wf” prefix. For example, “wp_wfConfig”).
3. Firewall configuration files, located in “wp-content/wflogs”.
 4. If you have optimized the firewall to be in “Extended Protection” mode then you will also have a “wordfence-waf.php” l

After removing all of these files now I cannot access the website anymore…
it says error 500
the guide mention also this

and a few configuration lines located in a “.htaccess”, “.user.ini” or a “php.ini” file.

Can somebody please help me in understanding which lines should I remove from these files?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Regards

Federico
