i can’t download plug-ins

i am using azure virtual machine to host a website i made everything went good until i needed to download a plug-in into word press when i have faced this error

Installation failed: Could not create directory. /var/www/MyWebsite.me/wp-content/upgrade

i couldn’t find a solution for this problem any idea how to solve it?

  1. Sounds like your file permissions are wrong. I think they need 775, but please confirm it with a google search

  2. Is that path correct, i.e. is it actually in /var/www/sitename? Is it a fresh install or did you import configuration and/or data? I’ve had this happen as a result of migration to a new host which was installed in a different path on the filesystem. Check the file upload path as well in settings -> Media -> uploading Files

  3. It could be file permissions, owner:group incorrect, or SE Linux could be preventing it.
