Idiot here, I installed a 2nd theme and activated it without disabling my first one. I now have the white screen of death, I can't even get to my homepage and /wp-admin is just a white screen.

If anyone can help I'd be forever grateful!

EDIT : I'm not even able to see my main menu, everything is white. If there's a way to completely wipe the site, I'd be down for that, I want to rebuild it from the ground up anyways

  1. if you can’t manage to debug the site, go to your hosting control panel and navigate where you can restore a backup of your site instead, utilize the help articles of your current host to know how to do it

  2. In the past when I first started, I had a theme and I activated the other theme, but for some weird reason, it became a combination of both themes under the customizer. So I never did that mistake again. I had to restart. basically the second theme inherited the material of the first them and it was a mix and match from hell.

  3. Seems the second theme had a bug in it. You’ll need to go into the db to get back access by changing the name to a default theme. Your host may help you with this.

  4. Ok first question, is it a wordpress.org or a wordpress.com site?
    I’m guessing it’s a .org
Login to your host and go to your WordPress manager and enable debug.
If you can’t check check the error log file via ftp or the file manager in the hosting cpanel

  5. Actually this should not be happening as activating a new theme automatically deactivates previous theme.
What you can to is access your site using FTP and rename the themes folder and add a WordPress theme like twenty twenty four theme.
WSOD might be due to issue with the theme you installed.
If the issue get resolved when you apply the WordPress theme, try testing the theme on local site to test its compatibility with the plugins installed.

  6. I would try to drag and drop the specific theme folder into a folder outside of WordPress. In hope of at least being able to control the backend again. But I think also a secured or restricted modus exist, that disables themes partly

  7. the problem is probably from your 2nd theme since activating a new one automatically desactivate the first one, or a plugin that come with the 2nd them, if you cant resolve the problem probably just restart your website ( there are other solutions )
