Import tables with hundreds of hyperlinks

[ad_1]

Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

The challenging part here is the “HYPERLINK()” function. When importing that in an Excel file, the formula will be imported, but the result won’t be properly converted to the HTML format that is needed for clickable links on the web. (This is something that I’ll be looking at — maybe I can make that possible in a future version.)

The Automatic URL Conversion Extension will then just see the link URL and convert that (it can’t take into account a link text).

So, to make this work, you would need to create the links in Excel directly, without them still relying on the “HYPERLINK()” formula, I’m afraid.

(After that, you can however use the Automatic URL Conversion Extension to add target="_blank" to all links, via the Shortcode parameter

automatic_url_conversion_new_window=true

Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Thank you very much for responding so quickly. I should have said in my first post how much I appreciate the plugin you created, and how grateful I am. Thanks.

So I’ve found a work-around for the time being. I can copy/paste a table (with links as I want them to appear) into a regular classic page (I didn’t try it in the Block editor), then import that table from URL into TablePress. With your suggestion for adding target=”_blank”, I have it working very nicely.

Thanks again for your quick reply and for the fine plugin.
