Improving accessibility- how to change ARIA tags in Astra theme/Elementor?

[ad_1]

Hi everyone, I’m working with my local art studio on a simple redesign of their website. No e-commerce or anything complex, just strictly informational with one monthly blog post. Previously they were using a free Weebly site with ridiculously slow loading times.

I’m using the Astra theme with Elementor. I know Elementor gets a lot of hate on here but it’s been working great for me and since I’m still learning it’s been a great way to expand my knowledge. I’m by no means an expert, my background is in digital marketing & branding so throughout my career I’ve dabbled with other website builders like Shopify, Squarespace, and Wix, but had never used WordPress before.

The site is looking great. Currently, I’m focusing on improving the accessibility right now. From the accessibility checkers I’ve used (google pagespeed insights, WAVE, and accessibility checker.org) there are no critical errors, but the issue I can’t seem to figure out is the empty ARIA tags. There’s no field to edit so I assume it’s in the code of the theme but I’m honestly not sure and a little lost at this point. Does anyone have any experience with this or had a similar issue in the past?

Also, any tips on improving accessibility overall would be great! It currently scores 80 and I’d love to get it above 85.
