I’ve always used Quick Install or manually installed WordPress, without issue.
The shared hosting I have recently got rid of Quick Install in favor of only Softaculous.
I’ve installed two wp sites in the past week using Softaculous. Both of them seemed to experience SSL errors despite a valid SSL.
The most recent site seems to be shifting between global 404s and SSL insecurity from “some parts of the page being insecure” despite a valid issued SSL.
These are basically default WordPress installations.
Can’t remember ever experiencing persistent SSL issues/404 issues like this when the sites are a couple days-week old.
Is Softaculous just a piece of crap prone to problems or is it a coincidence?
Funny too, when I was searching last night about it, the softaculous blog (lazily using the default WP theme) was down. And now I see their main site [http://softaculous.com/]) isn’t even using https. This doesn’t give one much confidence in their service.
