Is there a way to change the author URL slug that works in WP 6.5?

Hi all,

I want to change the author URL to include the full author name:

sitename.com/author/firstname-lastname/

I’ve tried the ‘Edit Author Slug’ plugin (did nothing 🙁) and the ‘WP Custom Author URL’ plugin (successfully changes the URL for about 5 minutes, but then ultimately gives ‘ERR\_TOO\_MANY\_REDIRECTS’ error 🙁).

Can anyone suggest a solution that works in 2024 please?
