Is this correct theme behavior?

[ad_1]

I am an absolute WordPress noob, but years of experience with SiteCore / Sitefinity and I just wanted to set up something simple; so I installed WordPress and found a nice baseline theme ( [Spectra One – WordPress theme | WordPress.org]) )

The thing I don’t “get” is that I expected the templates to be selectable on a page. So I create a page, I should be able to assign a template (e.g. home, subpage, 404). With this theme I am not. It appears that all the changes you want to make should be done through appearance -> editor.

Is this normal behavior for specific types of themes? Because you are not editing the template, you are actually editing the complete website.

  1. Nope, you get it wrong, that is, the dropdown is not the template from your theme, but the, lets say, shape of your future page.

If you wish to use custom pages from your theme, you should publish them and assign as you like.
