So I’ve been using Jetpack for years to see my stats. I like the clean simple way they’re displayed. Starting yesterday, I get this page that seems to mean I have to start paying them to see my stats. I do have adsense on my site, but I barely make anything. I don’t even make enough to cover the hosting, so I can’t really afford to pay $12 a month now to see my stats.

Is there any other plugin or option to see nice clean stats? I just want to see how many people visit my site and what they look at. My site is just a hobby, so I’m not looking to grow it or make money.

  1. They are sending this message to large number of people. Even i got this on my educational website.

  2. Google Analytics. Install it with the Google Site Kit plugin – it has a similar stats dashboard in your WP dashboard. GA is free.

  3. Been using it for over a decade too. There was a new blurred out screen tonight that said if I paid I could see what is behind the blur. But, I could still see regular stats.

  4. I recognized Jetpack shenanigans early on, didn’t like the hold it had on my website and the host was running out of disc space anyway so removed bloated software. Glad I did now seeing the predatory behavior they’re pulling.

  5. Jetpack is bloatware, fuck them.

If you analyze a basic WordPress site and one with jetpack, like a static comparison you will see a huge difference on how they behave and much resources the jetpack one eats up (ram/cpu).

  6. As long as your site is for non-commercial use, you can still use Jetpack Stats for free.

If that is not your case, you’d need to use free alternatives such as GA.

  7. Statify, Matomo, Koko. I used Jetpack for a decade before removing it about a year ago. A very good decision in retrospect. I have no time or patience for bloatware.

  8. If you don’t run ads I think you can still get it for free. I run ads and had just switched back to jetpack after the whole google analyics change over. I find G4 analytics nearly impossible to figure out. I too just want to see which pages the traffic is coming to and where it is coming form.

  9. Remove that crap. Install Google Site Kit. I have this one and also WP Stats with independant stats (Google takes it to another level, tough). Jetpack is full of bloat.

  10. Their stats was the only reason I kept JetPack around. I guess I’m removing them compeltely. I’m not paying that much per site, especially for something that used to be free.

  12. The main reason I used it was to see the stats on my phone. Any suggestions for an alternative that can do this?

  13. Disabling the “new” Stats experience seems to work for now by bringing back the old setup.
