I’m creating pages for a site, and the ‘pages’ admin screen basically just looks like a big list.
I know that this is not a new problem. But I assumed that after this many years I’d be able to find a plugin that helps me order pages by kind.
The closest I’ve found is Wicked Folders.
But it doesn’t really work for me: instead of simplifying the ‘pages’ admin screen, it complicates it: it adds a whole new UI and the user has to spend time working out how the new UI interacts with the existing one.
The next closest I found is ‘Nested Pages’.
It alters the UI by letting you, well, nest pages.
However, I don’t want to nest pages within a page:
I want to group pages by kind.
For example, I’ve got about four pages that are of the kind ‘about’.
That is: the ‘about’ information is complex, so it’s distributed across four pages.
But there is no one single ‘about’ page, and nor is there a necessisity for one single about page.
So if I wanted to make the ‘pages’ admin screen more coherent, I could create a single ‘about’ page and then nest the other four pages within that. But then I’d be creating a page that I’m not interested in ever using, and that serves no purpose on the user-side of things.
It will exist purely to make up for a shortcoming on the admin screen.
So I have any other options here?
