So the wordpress.com site is on a premium plan, I can’t use a plugin to do the migration. On Bluehost, there’s already 1 site there and trying to add another–the migrated site. (The new domain is with GoDaddy, not pointing to the nameservers or anything yet.)
When migrating the site to Bluehost, I made a subdomain with the current domain there and fresh install of WP. I downloaded the theme, uploaded/activated that, then exported the site from .com for the xml file, and when I imported to .org it only took the page names essentially. None of the content imported except maybe the title. The pages are blank and there weren’t any posts to begin with.
The front page was created with the theme template, does that also mean it wasn’t included with the import? The media files were also downloaded separately, could I upload that the same way? Or it’s the same to just add media normally?
I wanted to avoid having to re-design the site entirely, but if that’s the case that’s fine. Just wondering if there was another way I could’ve went about it/that’s how it was going to be anyways so I’m wondering if I had the wrong idea initially. Thanks!
