Modifications sometimes not saved on post update

[ad_1]

Hi,

For the past 18 months I’ve been building some kind of CRM / ERP for my company, based on WordPress and ACF. We are using it everyday, all day long, so it is of course very important to us.

**We are facing a pretty big issue : sometimes, our changes are not saved when we update a post.** It happened often enough that I have to discard human error.

When it happens, we have to make the changes and update the post once again. Apart from being annoying, this could have very bad consequences if it happens at the wrong time and we don’t spot it.

After talking about it with a developer friend, he had the intuition that it could be caused by autosaves : if wordpress is autosaving at the same time as we are saving the post, it “could” create a conflict and not save at all.

I disabled the autosave feature but (unless I didn’t disable it correctly – i don’t know how to verify that) we are still facing the problem.

It happens maybe once every 100 or 200 saves, randomly (randomly as in “we don’t know the reason”), so it’s very hard to reproduce the error to try to find the cause.

We checked the logs on our servers when it happened, but didn’t find any error.

Any idea what could cause the issue ?

PS: It seems to happen more often (but not exclusively) on an ACF options page that doesn’t have many fields, just a simple 5-fields repeater with up to 15 lines aprox.

  1. It could be a JavaScript error. In this case, those would show up in the DevTools – Console when the error occurs. So you may be stuck waiting for it to happen and hoping that you can check DevTools before navigating away from the page.
