My website has bad pop-up ads. How do I find source to remove?

[ad_1]

My website, sponsorhunter.com, has these ads that when you select any link, the ad also gets selected and causes a second page to pop up. The second page ads are those fake ads that say you won a prize or your device is compromised. I do not want these ads. I do not know how these ads were added. I use Google Ads and Amazon Ads. I have inserted the Google ad codes in my headers and footers as well as a few select locations on specific pages. Amazon ads are only on select pages where I manually ad.

I’ve downloaded the “Anti-Malware Security and Brute-Force Firewall” plugin that removes these ads. I have to run the scanner all the time because the bad ads always re-appear 3-4 weeks later. I want to remove them once and for all. I do not know why or how they keep coming back. I don’t add any new plugins and other than running the anti-malware plugin, I do not do much on the website.

Does anyone know how to find the source of these ads and remove? When I click a link, I get sent to a site called wintoyouprizes or prize-house which then gets redirected to the malicious ad.

Tips? Advice?

  1. Install Wordfence and run a scan.

Generally sites get infected because of an out of date plugin or theme. Ensure everything is up to date and has received an update in the last 6 months.
